About
My name is Mariana Jorge and I am a self-taught visual arts creative from Sao Paulo, Brazil. My  tenacity pushed me to start my career at a very early age and by the time I was  19-years old I had already won my first MTV Award for best music video as a  director, one of many awards to come. That same year, I went to Rockport Film School in Maine for a DP master class in feature film advanced cinematography.  After that I worked as an assistant to Adriano Goldman (The Crown) and Cesar Charlonne (City of God). I have worked with artists from the Brazilian ghetto for decades.  In the past years I shot a few commercials, music videos (the last one just won an award in France, India, Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, Turkey, and USA in 2022), web shows and have been working independently to create connections  between the U.S. and South America in the film and music industry. I’ve recently worked on “Blue Carbon”, a documentary on the environment for CNN Brazil and the United States.

My biggest strength is strategy, creating solutions and  teamwork. I have double citizenship: brazilian and american. I speak fluent English, Portuguese, moderate Spanish, Italian, and  some French, enough to impress a book club.

Please see  attached letters from people I've worked with:

"I have seen my friend Mariana Jorge practicing and developing her delightful  work for many years. She is a marvelously wonderful person and a wonderfully  marvelous artist."
Wes Anderson, Film Director
"To whom it may concern,  I have been working as a music supervisor for film and tv for thirty years.

I have had the good fortune to work with some of the most visionary filmmakers  of this era, including Martin Scorsese, Wes Anderson, Todd Haynes, Kathryn  Bigelow and David Fincher.

My admiration for directors is unbound.

I have gotten to know and work with Mariana Jorge many times in the last 15  years. She always impresses me with both her visual sense and her sensitivity to  story.

I have long marveled at the videos and short films she has made and have no  doubt that she will create impactful long form content.

I couldn’t recommend her more highly. She is a great person and will  have no issues enlisting collaborators, finding stories, and rewarding the world  with her artistry.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Best."
Randall Poster, Music Supervisor
"I’ve been following Mariana Jorge’s work for some time now and believe she’s a  deeply talented filmmaker and visual artist. The music videos she’s made,  including one with Bill Murray, show just a hint of what she can do. She and I  have talked about novels, movies, storytelling, music and acting and it’s really  precisely that interdisciplinary feel that makes directors great. Very much hope  you include her in your program, she will make you proud!"
Barry Mendel, Film Producer
"Mariana Jorge was my assistant for some years in her 20s. She was a hard  worker and very talented, I could see a big potential in her, the strong Brazilian  cultural influence transpires in everything she does in a very unique way. She  started doing her own work where she directed and did the cinematography for  every piece she filmed, a very uncommon thing back in the days for a woman in  Brazil. She is now based in Los  Angeles, I'm based in London, but I've been keeping a close eye on her steps  and I wish she gets an opportunity to develop her great skills and professionalism  close to home. I have worked with directors all over the world such as Fernando Meirelles,  Robert Redford and Stephen Daldry in some great projects like 360, The  Company You Keep and The Crown and I strongly believe Mariana's career  could greatly collaborate with our community."
Adriano Goldman ASC, BSC, ABC - Director of Photography
"Yesterday was one of the best experiences I can remember! Thank you— your  whole way of handling the entire shoot has been like watching a Picasso paint  with human personalities, timing, and creative energy. I don’t know how to thank  you!"
Nicholas Brown, Film Director
